What kind of yoga do you do?
How is it different than other classes?
Our Hatha yoga classes not only
physically challenge you to strengthen and balance
your body and mind, but also go to a much deeper
level. Our classes address the whole person on the
physical, psychological and spiritual levels – not
in an intellectual, religious or new age way – but
with deep reaching, practical life applications.
Each class has a theme: a
specific emphasis which can be applied in our daily
lives. Class topics include: Breathing for Energy;
Concentration, The First Step to Meditation;
Overcoming Fear; Effortless Balanced Movement.
Yoga teachers are qualified
through over 1000 hours of training and supervision
by Dr. Vogel. Students learn far more than just
doing the right movements; they experience
techniques which help them cultivate the specific
conditions necessary for learning to meditate. In a
few short weeks you can be well on your way in
learning to concentrate the mind, relax the emotions
and achieve deep peacefulness and contentment.

What do I need to know to teach yoga?
You are always teaching.
What you say, what you do, even the way that you are
has an affect on all. Thus, the primary
qualification for teaching yoga is to live true to
yourself. In order to live true to yourself you
need to know who you really are fundamentally, and
then teach from that knowledge; you cannot just
mouth the words.
Dr. Vogel’s classes teach
students to live in a state of balance, free from
stress, relaxed and energized. You will learn how to
teach the yoga poses, and how to correct and adjust
people in each pose. You will learn the benefits of
each pose and a progression of poses that
stimulates and works every major muscle group of the
body. You will learn advanced breathing techniques,
called Pranayama, that energize and balance all
tissues in the body and enliven the mind’s
energies. Far more than a stretching program, you
will learn how to be in action while aware of the
real Self you are and how to help others grow to
their unique personal potential.
You will learn how to focus
and how to teach concentration. You will learn how
to weave in various themes that will help your
students apply their learning in their daily lives.
You will learn to communicate clearly and how to
have unshakeable confidence. You will
practice teach, under staff supervision, in order to
fine-tune your classes. You will be tested for
knowledge of the yoga poses and your ability to teach them,
as well as take a written practical teaching test.
When you graduate you will know how to carry
yourself with real professionalism as a qualified
yoga instructor.

When you work with
a teacher, you want to feel confident that you are
working with an authentic person and a real teacher,
not an impersonator who is merely saying all the
right - or even wrong - things without your
recognizing it. Dr. Vogel teaches from direct
experience - not from book learning or things he has
heard about along the way.
Dr. Vogel is a master teacher
who teaches among the sages in the Himalayas.
He asks you not to believe what he is
saying but to “try it on,” to see if it reverberates
in your heart as truth. Then you will know it to be
true from your own direct experience.
More than 35 years of
teaching, and continuous refinement of his yoga
programs, have given Dr. Vogel’s classes a solid
structure and a well thought out progression. Still,
as a teacher, you must also discover how to make
your class richer through your own creative input.
Dr. Vogel has a very gentle
style that makes it easy for students to relax and
enjoy the learning process. Also. as mentioned
above, you learn who you really are fundamentally
and how to teach with that knowledge.
